Graduation Requirements
230 credits must be earned in order to meet graduation requirements at any of San Bernardino City Unified School District's five comprehensive high schools -- Cajon High School, Pacific High School, San Bernardino High School, San Gorgonio High School, and Arroyo Valley High School. Five units are earned for each course passed with a "D" or better. The following courses must be completed and passed in order to receive credit.

40 credits (4 years = 8 semesters) Four (4) consecutive years of English are required.

| Mathematics |
30 credits (3 years = 6 semesters) Three (3) years of Mathematics are required. Four (4) years recommended. California reqiures all students to successfully complete Algebra 1 to qualify for a Hgh School Diploma

| Science |
30 credits (3 years = 6 semesters) (4 years recommended) One (1) year of Biology One (1) year of Physical Science One (1) year of Elective Science Earth Science, Chemistry, Physics, Physiology, or Environmental Science

| History-Social Science |
40 credits (4 years = 8 semesters) One (1) year of World Geography* One (1) year of World History One (1) year of United States History One (1) year of American Government/Economics

| Physical Education |
20 credits (2 years = 4 semesters) One (1) year -- 9th grade One (1) year -- 10th, 11th, or 12th grade Beginning 2009, California requires all students to pass the State 9th Grade Physical Fitness Exam.

| Career Development |
20 credits (2 years = 4 semesters) Courses selected from a career pathway, Cadet Corps, JROTC, ROP, additonal math or science, or other courses leading to future career interests.

| Foreign Language |
10 credits (1 year = 2 semesters) One (1) year Fine Arts or one (1) year of a foreign language
NOTE: Two (2) years of the same foreign language are required for CSU/UC. Three (3) years are recommended.

| Visual and Performing Arts |
10 credits (1 year = 2 semesters) OR 1 year of a foreign language

| Elective Credits |
40 credits (8 semesters) Elective credits chosen from any combination of selected courses of interest.
|
| Computer Literacy |
Skills in word processing, database, and spreadsheets gained through a variety of courses.

*The World Geography requirement shall be waived for students enrolled in AVID, S.A.I.L., and English or Algebra support courses in 9th grade.
