School Site Council minutes for Tuesday, November 9, 2010
Meeting was called to order by Principal Gordon Amerson. Minutes from the March 17, 2010 meeting were read and approved.
The SSC training video was shown going over protocol, the amount of members required for a quorum and the importance of the role of the School Site Council in the areas of school budget and safety.
The Minutes of the last District Advisory council meeting from September 16, 2010 were read.
Christina Burkehardt and Mrs. Mosby were nominated for President. Mrs. Whitehouse and Mrs. Burkehardt were nominated for secretary. Election will take place at the next meeting.
Major Williams presented the School Site Council with the School safety plan. He stated that this is a constant “Work in Progress” and the main purpose of this is to provide safety and care of the students at Arroyo Valley. He also emphasized the importance of the keeping students emergency contact number current at all times.
Ms. Haggerty passed out a copy of the compact between students, parents and teachers. Mr. Amerson emphasized that these are not edged in stone and they are always open to any suggestions on how to make them better.
Students will be selling Christmas trees for a fundraiser in December.
Mr. Amerson also noted that the first semester ends upon the winter recess. He believes that students will benefit from this. The extended winter and springs break should create continuity and help to maintain the information students have learned prior to holiday break.
Mrs. Burkehardt nominated the close of the meeting, Major Williams seconded.

Los minutos de la última reunión del Consejo Asesor del Distrito el 16 de septiembre de 2010 fueron
Christina Burkehardt y Las Sra. Mosby fueron nominadas para la presidencia. La Sra. Whitehouse y Burkehardt fueron nominadas para el secretario. La elección tendrá lugar en la próxima reunión.
Mayor Williams presentó el Consejo Escolar con el plan de seguridad escolar. Dijo que este es un trabajo constante "trabajo en progresó " y el propósito principal es de proporcionar seguridad y atención a los estudiantes de Arroyo Valley. También hizo saber en la importancia de mantener a corriente los números de emergencia de los estudiantes a todo tiempo.
La Sra. Haggerty pasado una copia del pacto entre los estudiantes, padres y profesores. El Sr. Amerson hizo saber la importancia de que estas reglas no son permanentes e incambiables siempre están abiertos a cualquier sugerencia sobre cómo hacerse mejor.
Los estudiantes estarán vendiendo árboles de Navidad para recaudar fondos en diciembre.
El Sr. Amerson también señaló que el primer semestre termina con el receso de invierno. Él cree que los estudiantes se beneficiarán de esto. El receso extendido del invierno y primavera ayudan a los estudiantes mantener la información que hayan aprendido antes del receso.
