New Superintendent Announced
The San Bernardino City Unified School District Board of Education selected
Dr. Dale Marsden as the new district superintendent, effective July 1, 2012.
Dr. Marsden comes to San Bernardino City with over 20 years of public education experience. He is a recognized leader, who has a demonstrated track record of reengineering local educational systems, from preschool to university level, to ensure all students are prepared with the skills they need to succeed in the real world of work.
Dr. Marsden has served as a classroom teacher, principal, director of quality and development, deputy superintendent, and superintendent in one of San Bernardino County’s highest performing public education systems. His regional efforts with the Alliance for Education have successfully brought together a diverse body of leaders and community stakeholders across multiple sectors, including leaders in K-12 education, higher education, public and private sector, and service and faith-based organizations. He is recognized as one of San Bernardino County’s most innovative leaders in education.

The San Bernardino City Unified School Districtis the eight largest school district in California. ith 66 schools in operation and a student enrollment of approximately 50,000 students.
The District The District is comprised of 44 elementary, 10 middle, 9 high schools, an adult school, and 3 special education schools. The District also offers two alternative programs: Middle College High and the Alternative Learning Center.
