Council Purpose
The San Bernardino City Unified School District has a diverse student population. Our second largest ethnic community is our African-American students. We strongly encourage all schools within the SBCUSD to have an African-American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC) on campus or cluster-wide.

The purpose of the AAPAC is to involve and engage African-American parents in the decision-making process that would lead to improving the quality of education for African-American students by raising the level of awareness in our community regarding cultural learning differences and promoting an understanding among parents, educators, and others about cultural sensitive issues relating to the education of African-Americans.

The Goals of AAPAC

1. Engage, equip, and empower parents to advocate for the academic success of their child.

  • 2. Expand and improve the educational opportunities for African-American students.

  • 3. Ensure academic success through high expectations, rigorous and challenging curriculum and instruction.

  • 4. Work to enhance and support the educational, personal, and career goals of every African-American student.

  • Encourage success in regular school program through a collaborative decision-making process within the district, school level, and community.

African American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC) is run by your school site. For more information on dates, location, and time, please contact your local school site.

For AAPAC support, please contact our office at (909) 473-2098.
